Anthony Blunt

John-Paul Stonard on photographs of Anthony Blunt, director of the Courtauld from 1947 to 1974

John-Paul Stonard

The images here, a selection of largely unpublished images from the Courtauld archives, show Blunt in his professional milieu, at work in the Courtauld Institute's former Portman Square residence, and in uncharacteristically informal poses.

We are indebted to Professor Kerry Downes for permission to publish his photographs as part of this story.
